You have 5 voyages, minimum, a year, you reached  all the continents, you know exactly how to find out the most unusual and incredible deals, offers, hidden treasures of the places where you decided to get, you have bookmarks  on the best travel blogs&sites, you know enough to be a good adviser for those friends who travel less than you do. Eh, you would say:  ”you`ll never be on a travel agency`s  list of customers!” WRONG!
No matter how much you may know, see, get to find, live, my colored advice for you is not to be as vain as a peacock, because you aren`t omniscient, you`d better think that, sometimes, an expert in travelling with “business knowhow” could be  extremely helpful to you.

My 2016 Cambodia was a “second time” in Siem Reap. I already knew what to expect from the temples area, I shuddered to think of the hustle and bustle that I could hardly escape from (and which is denser now than in 2011) and I knew for certain that I wanted another  way of…approaching things. Luckily, I happened to discover an agency owned by an Englishman, ABOUT Asia Travel, that made perfect promises for such a foray to Siem Reap.
As they organize the tours, according to the customers` demands, I decided to try; I told them what I intended to see and they came with a super proposal, a two day trip, which couldn`t be organized better than they did.
The itinerary that the ABOUT  Asia Travel suggested to me was extremely interesting, efficient and spectacular and I think it is worth sharing with those who get in the area. Therefore…

DAY 1
• I started the first day early in the morning, at 6:30, leaving the hotel (they can also help you with different variants  of hotels), visiting the chosen temples (Ta Prohm, Ta Nei, Ta Keo), with a breakfast break (which, by the way, was a dream meal: some fresh croissants, fruits, tea and the beneficent coffee, at a tiny and isolated café, with its tables arranged  in open air, on the bank of the Srah Srang pond.)

• We had another two hour break at lunchtime, after which I went on visiting the temples, more precisely, the Angkor Thom, I went for a walk on the old wall of the town  that leads to Death Gate, then Terrace of the Leper King and a stroll from Preah Palilay, close to Phimeanakas.
• The last ones were Baphuon and my favourite one, Bayon.
• The end of the evening, at sunset was sublime: gliding along the Angkor pond  in a little boat, with a glass of wine, it`s super peaceful (there were only a few boats close to us)

DAY 2

• The second day was devoted to watching the sunrise, in the first part of the morning, at Angkor Wat, that really takes your breath away, then  visiting the temple and having breakfast on the bank of the pond, followed by Preah Khan.

• In the afternoon we headed for the wonderful temple Banteay Srei, but on our way we stopped in a village where we saw how the locals got the palm tree sugar.

• On our way back, I visited a typically Cambodian house of some peasants, in a village where nothing bad seemed to happen and where we were going to have dinner. I saw how the house was divided, the way they lived, we were explained absolutely everything, we were offered some fresh, rice flat cakes (noom kruak), made in front of our eyes and it seemed simply brilliant to me!

• The sunset and dinner at Villa Chandara, owned by some locals who, together with the agency organize exceptional evenings, with traditional, Khmer music, drinks at sunset and barbecue buffet touched a deep chord in my heart.

It sounds great, doesn`t it? Eh, this is said by a traveller who, sometimes  thinks (thought) that she knows (knew)everything. Write down the name, in case you get to Cambodia: ABOUT Asia Travel.
