The Khmer Empire. One of the most  important in Asia, which, between the 9th and 15th centuries offered mankind matchless inheritances. Do you think I`m exaggerating with the use of superlatives? Not in the least! The myths and the symbols of the temples which had been concived by that time. either Buddhist or Hindu –most of them, the complexity of sculptures, the emotions they engender, the grandeur of the structures turn  them into a priceless treasure, nowadays, and make Cambodia a piece of holy land. Many of them are related to the kings of Cambodia, especially to Jayavarman VII and now are extremely hunted and visited by tens and hundreds of tourists who walk into them and immortalize each and every corner, every day. The art and architecture are genuine and authentic, right here:

• Bayon is by far my fave, maybe because of the fact that, when I visited it for the first time, 5 years ago, the feeling I had, of Calm and ultimate Good mood, was WOW; about that time, the temple was almost empty, I had only about 4 people around, and the emotion was doublyoverwhelming, in the good sense, of peace and serenity.
We took our time admiring the sculptures, we went for a leisurely stroll and even though, at one time a heavy rain made us run away, we stayed in the car for a couple of minutes, contemplating the beauty of the temple under the drops of the rain and not a soul was seen there. Perfection! The façades, the dramatism, those over 200 smiling, enigmatic, stone faces make Bayon a peerless temple, totally different from the rest, in the big, colorful world.

• About Angkor Wat, a UNESCO heritage site, the largest religious monument in the world, is undoubtedly huge, in comparison with the other ones, it is said to have a mystery: the fact that it facessouth, whereas the rest faces east. It is still this temple that people also called “Small Imperial City”, as it really looks like a small town, a town of galleries, of impressive bas-reliefs, iconic terraces and towers, of the stunning statue of Vishnu, all gathered in a complex whose basic words are grandeur, uniqueness, minuteness.

• Banteay Srei is, in my opinion, and in many others`, a tiny jewel, that kept most of its sculptures and bas-reliefs untouched: they are very intricate, and its color is a special one, as none of other temple has: pink orange. It is located about 40 km away from Angkor Wat, includes two stone and brick libraries, and it seems to have been erected at the demand of one member of the royal court.
