It`s in open air, it`s incredibly picturesque, it`s full to the brim, from dawn, it has the most complex colours, flavors, shapes and textures. Maybe you think I`m exaggerating when I call it a museum, but there are so many curiosities among its exhibits that I`m sure you`ll side with me.

Vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, all kinds of rice, snacks, pastries, dishes cooked on the spot, stalls with clothes, jewels and accessories, people,bustle, smiles, bargains, the joy of meeting again, the colors of life…welcome to the most picturesque market of all the colored ones, the Psar Leu market, a kind of MoMa of flavors, dishes, bustle and Cambodian colors!

Psar Leu fascinates and impresses you from the first moment you walk in, because it`s a kind of maze, where the hubbub and the amalgam of colors and flavors are matchless and are nowhere else to be found in the world.

The dragon-fruit and limes are mixed among piles of durian, jackfruit, snakefruit and rambutan.

and the different kinds of fish and sea food plus the various sorts of meat are heaps on heaps on the stalls.

The egg-plants, peppers, the kales and other tens of kinds of vegetables

perfectly fit the habit of those who cook fresh dainty dishes, on the spot (like in every Asian market, in order not to leave the place with an empty somach -good idea, don`t you think?)

It isn`t a right place for the sensitive ones or for the agoraphobics (you have to take into account the fact that the crowd is extremely dense and some smells are exceedingly unpleasant in certain areas of the market; plus the pavement that didn`t “see” the washing powder and the water, too often! I recommend those mentioned before the fruit area, by far the cleanest and most scented. The reason why I`m doing so is that it would be a pity to get to a region, thousands km away from home and to miss the most spectacular experience of Cambodia, its splendid museum: the Psar Leu market.
