The city of the Popes –no, it isn`t Rome-an incredible medieval fortress, the host of a famous theatre festival, touristic spots as far as the eye can reach, in an area full of lavender, truffles, wine and honey. What can it be better than this? In the South of France, that is in the tiny and smart Avignon, which became more famous perhaps because of its bridge that I used to picture during my French classes, in middle school, as being something extraordinary. And in reality it has neither more nor less than 4 archways that survived and seem to be vanishing into the water, but also an extremely beautiful chapel. I found a richly cultural Avignon in a true French ambiance, with nice cafés and bars and old and charming, small squares. I need to share my colored recommendations for a day in this town, that made history:

• A stroll through the old center, among paved, little streets with their  hustle and bustle, private corners and wonderful merry-go-rounds, old and so well-preserved architecture, bohemian air, all fill you with energy and a good vibe.
• The visit to the Palais des Papes is a must! The Palace is truly wow, one of the most important Gothic, medieval edifices in Europe, that turned into a residence of the popes in the 14th century.The towers, the chapels and the whole structure make this monument something unique in the world.
• As you finished visiting, stop for a coffee in the square of the palace or in Place de l`Horloge, in front of the Town Hall, which is a super cool place to see the people&savor the town .
• Take a look round the Cathedral Notre-Dame des Doms, in Roman style and crammed with works of art.
• The Petit Palais Museum and Angladon Museum will be the artistic breath to take here, because they are renowned for their Renaissance collections and other French and Italian paintings.
• Lunch is served at 83 Vernet restaurant&bar, in the garden, right in the heart of Avignon, in a fabulous design.
• Pont Bénezet, that is the main character in the town, built over the Rhone  by the pastor who bears the same name, prompted by some saints, as it seems, originally had 20 archways and can be also admired from a distance, but it is worth a visit and a…dance, too.
• A cocktail at Hotel D`Europe, in the magnificent garden is la fin d`une soirée magique !
