Family Affair
If you ever fancy visiting a place with idyllic scenery, with monasteries, archeological sites, museums, art and inspiration for one of the most famous artists in the world, galleries and exhibitions, and many other chic attractions, in a serene and peaceful setting, Provence and its villages are, perhaps, the best choice. This time, too, we have a special village as the main character of the story with equally charming surroundings, but especially with a hotel of a matchless beauty, along with a family story. Let`s meet Château des Alpilles, at the foot of the Alps, and the Bon family in Saint Remy of Provence.
Colored list of Château des Alpilles:
• A knight, a cypress tree and a farm lie at the bottom of the castle legend, more precisely there are some documents attesting to the fact that the domain has existed since the 13th century
• After a while, Charles Gaillard inherited the building and a few hundred years later, while being owned by Pierre-Paul Blaine, it got its true value and glamour because he actually had the imposing villa constructed and planted many species of trees in the gardens, even exotic ones.
• Lamartine or Thiers were frequent visitors to the place
• A few centuries went by and left their marks upon the castle, but since 1979, when Françoise Bon and his daughter decided to preserve and give full value to the beauty of the place, Château des Alpilles became a gracious hotel
• A super romantic atmosphere, in whole hectares of magnolias or ginko biloba, with the old, remaining farm which is now a kind of loft, but a bigger one, in a contemporary style
• Rooms decorated with genuine furniture, dating from the 19th century, luxurious but very familiar, a little chapel where weddings used to be celebrated in the past and which is now an awesome room with a terrace, like the original loft of the farm
• A typically French gastronomy, stylish and refined, at The Manor restaurant, or a bit more informal one at By The Pool, with light and delicious Mediterranean dishes and a charming little bar
• A pool where you can enjoy nature and the ambiance of the place
