It is called “the little Paris” and no, it isn`t 2500 km. away from the Eastern part of the “City of Lights”, it doesn`t start with Bucur and it doesn`t end in …esti. It`s still in France, to the South and it is said to be a “petit Paris”, because, out of the whole cluster of Provençal villages and towns, it is the centre, the hub, the ”capital”; it`s the most… of the most…
Once you came down from Avignon, to Marseille, you can`t help stopping  to admire the “presque” Parisian grace, the buildings, the streets and the small squares dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, with exquisite architecture, the famous institutions and universities, you can`t help experiencing some of the cultural events from the brilliant cluster of activities typical of the area..Aix-en-Provence, enchantée.

Un jour, le petit Paris et nous:

9:00 a.m. - A good coffee at Les deux garcons, an awesome brasserie in Cours Mirabeau, a richly historical place, loaded with characters like Cézanne, Zola or Picasso and with many dishes, typical of the area. Delightful!
10:00 a.m. - Atelier Cézanne is worth visiting-as Aix-en –Provence is his birth place – a very well preserved, old house, endowed with all the things that used to inspire  and comfort him: ceramics, dishes, glass, skulls, little decorations.
12:00 a.m. - We make a short foray into the French art at the Granet museum, that dates from the 19th century and bears the name of the painter, François Marius Granet, who was born in this town, too. All the works of art are absolutely wonderful.
13:00 p.m. - Then, go for a walk through the Mazarin Neighborhood and Cours Mirabeau, two of the most popular areas in Aix, closely connected with history, religion,culture and many houses and old hotels that are incredibly beautiful.
16:00 p.m. - Enter the Saint-Saveur Cathedral, the most important in the town, that impress us with its neo-Gothic and Roman details.
17:00 p.m.- Shopping, bien sûr: little shops with Provençal products-Provence herbs, a wide range of salt, lavender – are a seasonal must have and not only.
18:00 p.m. - A snack is needed: the famous Calissons at the Confiserie Brémond, to entirely feel the savor of Provence and to delight your senses while tasting some unique and fruity sweets.
20:00 p.m. - Cocktail time at Le Club (in Le Pigonnet Hotel) in a highly special spot, with a bar, arranged in the garden and summer nights with d.j. and music, or at the café-bar.
