Heads, bob&pony-tail
Disputed by some people, hunted by others, admired and defamed, at the same time, graffiti drawings actually have a very special urban vibe, whatever wall they might cover. They make more sense and tell much more about a city, in the Big Apple, like nowhere else in the world. New York breathes through graffiti writings or drawings which work like some huge, creative lungs. Whether they tell hip-hop stories, love stories, tribute-histories or protesting ones, the huge drawings on the walls of the big city are the indisputable and obvious visual mark of New York.
One of them seemed quite special to me, all the more as I immediately recognized the characters: Anna Wintours and Karl Lagerfeld, more precisely their heads, under the form of skulls, in electrical colors. A bizarre and very strong work, belonging to Bradley Theodore, 2 characters reduced to the obsession for the perfection of the bones, to the “iconic” hair styles, famous all over the world. Heads, bob&pony-tail. Splendid metaphor, isn’t it?
