From Paris to Miami…

….and from the districts of  “The City of Lights” to South Beach, U.S.A. Upon my word! Yes, in a metropolis like Miami, where you can see skyscrapers and modern style, wherever you turn your eyes, with powerful, South-American influences at every corner and in all the moments of the city life, and you can also find a bit of extremely interesting architecture, inspired by the Art Deco of France of  the`20s  with a…twist. With a bit of “science-art”, SF, influences, here and there. This is the art-deco touch, made in USA and it`s great!

In South Beach, more precisely in Ocean Drive, you`ll find 3 Art Deco styles, which are represented in the approximately 800 constructions: the traditional style, the futuristic ”science touched” one and  the Mediterranean (the ”revitalized” one-that`s what they say) style which borrows French, Italian, Spanish elements. And, believe me, this style is unique not only in Miami but also all over the world!

Hotels like The Avalon, The Berkeley, Beacon, The Colony, Breakwater, Leslie, The Carlyle, Crescent, Cardozo and Cavalier stand as a mark for ” Miami ART  DECO-style”, with their beautiful bas-reliefs, with flamingoes drawn on the facades  and unique asymmetries. And the colors-pink, blue, green, yellow, white-gave the area the name of Tropical Deco. And what`s more interesting is the fact that many of them are made with quite cheap materials, to give an impression of luxury which is not kitschy at all. On the contrary.

My colored spot is Ocean Drive, a vibrating and iconic place for Miami, because of both the eclectic boutiques and the top gastronomy, and because of the night life and the spectacular architecture of the place. Don`t miss it, art seekers!
