Allons enfants de la Patrie… that`s how the patriotic volunteers in Marseille used to frantically sing in their French hymn composed over 200 hundred years ago, proud not only of their country but also of their town that marked the history of France, too, in so many ways; Marseille is the second biggest French town, after Paris, the most important port of the country, the European capital of culture and hides some of top “recipe book” of France, one of the most stunning gastronomical wonders of the world.

Voulez-vous “marseillez”  in a single day? Voilà:

10:00 a.m - no, in Marseille it isn`t too early for alcohol, when it comes to tasting a genuine pastis at one of the bars in the port. So that you can start the day in a happily way!

11:00 a.m - go for a walk through the Panier neighborhood, one of the oldest in the town, the “basket with goodies” of Marseille, crammed with chic cafés, shops and nice galleries as well as history at every step

12:00 p.m - you should definitely visit Notre Dame de la Garde Cathedral, an extremely important basilica, especially for the 15th of August, and closely related to many periods from the past of the French people

13:00 p.m - a bit of modern art wouldn`t go amiss, so, take a look round the Cantini Museum, to admire a tremendous collection, dating mainly from the turn of the 20th century France

14:00 p.m - déjeuner time: a typical Bouillabaisse ,at Chef Fonfon, where you will undoubtedly relish some fish specialties, cooked by the book.

16:00 p.m - check the Longchamp Palace with its incredible park, ”The Gardens of France”, a field specifically designed for celebrating the Channel of Marseille, and where you can find art, beauty and superlative history, too

18:00 p.m - stop at one of the shops with savon de Marseillle (for example  Savonnerie marseillaise de la Licorne), the famous soap, from where, I can guarantee that you will leave with at least 2 bags of goodies

20:00 p.m - let`s take a break and have a cocktail at sunset at Bar Dantes (rooftop bar) at Sofitel Vieux Marseille, so that you can enjoy not only a view but also a superb drink
