Cassis is like a splendid essence of Provence, smelling of sea and having the energy of a fishing village, it is the place where the famous calanques  first appeared (the unique coves with limestone rocks), with a Mediterranean seascape that lets you “bouche bée”.
Here you can find the whole essence of France&holiday: wide vineyards covering many hectares, beaches with fine sandy beaches and surprisingly colored rocks, majestic cliffs, pine trees nearby, and particularly the natural monuments of Cape Canaille and the calanques.

• First things first: go for a leisurely stroll in the harbor, to seize the energy of the place and enjoy the wonderful air, the views of the fishermen`s boats and the people around.

• An impressive visit to Calanques comes next, these 400 m thick rocks of limestone, formed 120 million years ago, when some kinds of unique, diverse and protected coves came into being along with their fabulous ecosystem

• In Cassis I found out two domains with vine, where an excellent rosé is produced: Domaine de Bagnol and Domaine de Patternel, and where you can learn many interesting things about the old history of wine in this area, not to mention the owners`passion for it…
• Then I stopped at the “south perfume maker”, at the shop ”L`eau de Cassis”, that is another paradise, this time a paradise of stunning soaps and chic aromas for room, as well as of everyday, super special perfumes, wrapped in a story with a French flavor

• After so many wonderful discoveries, I decided it was time for a coffee or a pastis, so I returned to the harbor, at one of its inviting cafés

• Don`t leave Cassis without tasting as many specific dishes as possible: Vieille Auberge, Poissonerie Laurent, Chez Grand Large, Nino, all of them being extremely welcoming, with plain décors yet catching anyone`s eye, and stealing anyone`s heart, mainly by its taste, with 100% traditional dishes, but also Oustau de Mar, surprising and charming, or Chez Cesar where I ate the best marmite du pêcheur (a kind of bouillabaisse that makes you lick your fingers ) - are warm, delicious and colored recommendations!
