Ff=fast forward. Now, if I had to choose which cities of the world fit this phrase, it would be quite a lot. Yup, maaany. But Bangkok is obviously among the first. It`s truly a city that seems not to be able to find its peace. And it seems not to really want to. Effervescence bursts everywhere. Exotic places, skyscrapers, tropical fruits, floating market, Tuk-Tuk, drag queens, limos, temples, crowds of people, scorching heat, motorbikes, negotiations, Chao Praya, that makes its way through the heart of the city, everything is…fast forward! You will be also amazed by the contrasts: the high buildings and the super technically advanced areas coexist with huts in some areas, and the mix of new and old, traditional and modern is absolutely stunning!
It`s the city with the most bars, on the rooftops of the skyscrapers or of the hotels, they seem to be ”the latest craze in Bangkok” and the panorama of the city and of the Chao Praya river is absolutely spectacular.
 
The “colored list” of Bangkok:
 
1. Visit the Grand Palace and the Wat Phra Kaeo Temple

2. The museum-lovers can visit the National Museum but also art galleries such as Bangkok National Art Gallery and The Queen`s Gallery

3. Check Jim Thompson`s memorial house, to find out how an American succeeded in making the Thai silk, famous all over the world

4. Visit the most important temples of the city: Wat Arun

Wat Suthat

and Wat Saket(Golden Mount Temple)

out of which Wat Arun is like a jewel, and from the Golden Mount you have a bird`s eye view over the old Bangkok

5. Vimanmek Mansion is a kind of local Versailles, therefore you need to get there, too(careful:as you are not allowed to enter here with your shoes on, you`d better take a pair of socks with you, it`s much more comfortable this way!)

6. Take a look round the Pak Klong Talaad flower market, unbelievably colorful and walk into the big market nearby, full of all kinds of vegetables and fruits.

7. Shopping in the various malls existing here is always welcome. There are lots of them where you can do the shopping, among which I recommend you: Central world, Siam Paragon, Terminal 21, Central Chidlom, Siam Center(that has a very good food court, too) or Asiatique, the river front.

8. Take the tuk tuk, in order to enjoy a funny experience and take some nice photos when inside.

9. If you like handicrafts and antiques, go to River City Shopping Complex or at Narai Phand

10. Go for a walk in Chatuchak, weekend market, full of everything

11. Hire a little boat to go boating through the old Bangkok (where the wooden houses are built on pillars in the water)

12. Go to a spa (it is for good reason that the massage in Thailand is renowned; it`s DIVINE!) Try Divana Spa or Banyan Tree or Oriental Spa( top spas)

13. The afternoon tea at Author`s Lounge. Believe me, it`s the spot in Bangkok for this reason!

14. Go and drink a cocktail at the famous Moon Bar or Sky Bar, on stunning rooftops, from where you can see aaallll Bangkok( celebrity needs sacrifices in any case, so the secret lies in going there right at the time of opening, and so, you will enjoy the sunset and you will avoid the later bustle of people)

15. Have lunch at Issaya Siamese club

or at Blue Elephant,

to taste some ex-ce-llent Thai food!

16. A special cocktail plus live jazz, and a décor just as spectacular that reminds you of the former Bangkok, all are to be savored at Bamboo Bar

17. If you want to watch traditional dances, have dinner at Rim Nan Room, traditional dances included (Mandarin Oriental Hotel). You won`t regret it, the spot is renowned…

18. Make a reservation for a dinner with Manohra Cruises on the Chaya Praya river, on an old rice barge which was restored and turned into a little restaurant(http://bangkok-riverside.anantara.com/manohra-cruises)

19. Buy some specific souvenirs for the folks at home –coconut oil, soaps, essential oils, all natural or Benjarog ceramic vases, exquisitely decorated or made of celadon.
