...it is not only for young ladies aspiring to lead the life of a princess, for those with inter-war nostalgia or for the incurably romantic ones, looking for emotions and rhythm of Jane Austen. It`s also for the most cynical ones, for the “digital natives” or for those living to the rhythm of 2015. Not one town looks better, more quiet, wiser or more organized than the one watched from the ….coach. Try at least one drive by “carriage”, in Vienna, in Sevilla or in Buenos Aires and I promise that you will enjoy an absolutely charming trip.

But…we stay in Lisbon, still by carriage, it`s true and I invite you to Museu Nacional dos Coches, that is the Coaches Museum, which houses one of the most important coaches in the world, being one of the most visited in Lisbon, of course.

It was raised in 1905 for Amélia d`Orleães e Bragança of France, married to the future king of Portugal, Carlos I, to house the stunning collections of the Portuguese nobility and royalty, as far back as in the 16th century, but also coaches made in France, Italy, England, Austria or Spain; all of them are super smart and super sophisticated. Some of them have extraordinary lengths and details, with genuine allegories and intricate elements, many in a baroque style, actually, in royal colours and with muuuch gilt, but, after all, what kind of carriage is the one that is not richly decorated?
