Sometimes, in some places, where there are so many sights to see and where I  come and go without a stop, I need a break to unwind in the quiet, and that usually happens when I indulge in an afternoon tea.
Obviously, for this, I have to be in a unique place which is worth spending at least an hour of loneliness, relaxation and total admiration, like a tea salon taken from Tea with Mussolini or Alice in Wonderland, somewhere on the line between fiction and reality but 100% palpable. If you go for a walk in the little, narrow and charming streets of Alfama, the oldest neighbourhood in Lisbon, actually its heart, you are going to discover a magical spot in which  eclecticism is rendered in the furthest details, through a combination of neo-Moorish style with Brazilian Art Nouveau at the Palacete Chafariz d`el Rei Hotel. Everything I could possibly wish for myself, especially for my ZEN moment is here, on the terrace full of bougainvillea, with its little artesian well and smart sculptures, with a view over the Tejo river.
As Portugal is the oldest tea producer in Europe, you can enjoy the famous Gorreana teas, along with some fluffy pancakes with apples and cinnamon or little cakes and snacks and everything you want, as long as you are HERE!
