Wim Wenders, the director of the famous ”Buena Vista Social Club” said, after shooting in Havana, that  “people from here are charmingly resilient and have an unvanquished spirit.”
The way they always succeeded in passing through all the heavy trials of history, the open-hearted Cubans, with a smile on their faces and rhythm in their souls, are genuine inspiration to us. The mechanism by which they got to know how to write the sadness of the struggle for the destiny of a nation, at the back of the life wish list, that is, by no means easy (the regimes and the oppressions that they still struggle against give them a great deal of trouble, as well as the lack and the restrictions of freedom) and bring joy, music, dancing, moments lived together with savor high up, on the top of the above mentioned list is fantastic!

Here`s the story: while coming out of our hotel in the heart of Havana, a gentleman made his way towards us, a broad smile spreading over his face, reaching out his hand in a polite way and asking us "where are you from". It was easy to carry on a conversation with him, everything was natural, without preconceived ideas, he told us he was a teacher, he attended a faculty in Europe, in Leipzig and within several minutes he gave us a passionate, convincing proof that he knew quite a lot of things about Romania. The conversation slightly turned to Cuba and to the expectations of the people from here, regarding their future, with the care of changes that are hardly made, with uncertain steps. He spoke lovingly about the Cuban spirit and proudly about the energy, the talent and the potential of his birth place.
That`s what they are like: all those who smiled at us and opened the doors of their houses in Cuba for us: they are aware of their truth but they don`t have the vanity of suffering. They live life to the full, beyond the intrigues of history, they search for solutions without getting upset (maybe you will sometimes feel annoyed with the insistences of those who want to sell their cigars to you, in open street, but you should know that a simple smile and a “No, thank you “resolves the situation immediately), they let you join their fiestas without any preconceived ideas, they welcome you at their dancing evenings, in their bars and world.
This happens because, beyond all things, the Cubans know better than anyone else that “people are the story”.
