It was a gorgeous setting for Lawrence of Arabia (1962) and for the stories in Kingdom of Heaven (2005). Prince Doran Martell, Jamie Lanniste, Ellaria, Myrcella, Trystane, all of them went for a walk in the gardens&rooms of this incredible castle, that became a pilgrimage place for the adventure lovers in Game of Thrones. Most events of season 5 of HBO series  happened in Seville, at Real Alcázar, a landmark of Andalusia, a UNESCO heritage site and one of the most spectacular Moorish constructions in Spain, a piece of heaven, built here, on earth.

• The story of this spectacular place, evidence  of an impressive humanity, began in the 10th century, with the caliph Abderramán III, the one who dreamed of this place and brought together the most skillful architects of his world, to start the construction.

• Later on, in the 13th century, the place was turned into a royal palace, thanks to Alfonso X, then due to Pedro I, many changes were going to happen during the reign of the Catholic Kings and of Carlos V.

• The palace is huge and counts tens of salons, rooms, patios and wonderful gardens and is the oldest royal palace still in use in Europe (the royal family of Spain spends their Andalusian sojourns here.)

• The ceramics, the azulejos, the precious architectural details, the ravishing interiors, the Muslim influences and the Spanish elements superbly blend with each other in Real Alcázar.

• Patio de la Monteria, Patio del Yeso, Paio de las Doncellas, Patio de las Muñecas impressed me with the marble decors, columns and arches, worked in filigree and perfectly achieved.

• Spare some time for the gardens, too, they are absolutely charming, a live lesson of bele-arte, with centuries of beauty gathered in the pavilions, the fountains and the gorgeous ponds of Real Alcázar.
