ICE HOTEL Colored list:

   • Tons and tons of snow and ice which mix in a white fairy scene, an attraction which make about 50.000 visitors gather here, each winter. Ice is stored during spring and wintertime and between November and December, there`s a lot of hard, intense work to raise the building . The construction lasts almost until April.

   • Annually, the ideas and the imagination of some renowned artists and architects are requested, they create not only rooms but also works of art, with sculptures, beds and ice armchairs. Sleep tight at -5 degrees.

  • The hotel staff gets proposals from many artists every year, out of which they carefully choose the best variants. Some of them have never worked with ice or even worse, they have never seen snow before. But the challenge is so much the bigger! They come here and are trained on how to use the tools to carve the ice, each artist accomplishes his work of art, being helped by a team. They have 3 weeks at their disposal to finish up the room, and while they are working they follow the advice and have the support of some sculptors skilled in …ice work.

  • To keep the temperature between -5 and -7 degrees, inside the hotel, ,”snice’ is used, which is obtained from snow and ice which also thermo-insulates the Ice Hotel.

  • Annually, about 80 weddings are officiated in the chapel!
  • For those who prefer to sleep in a warmer place, there are some little, Scandinavian villas near the hotel, supplied, of course, with all the things that we are familiar with.

  • Haven`t you taken the warmest clothes in the wardrobe? Don`t worry, because the hotel is endowed with everything you need.
  • Before spending the big night in the cold, you are trained to deal with the coolness, so that you can get to know all the details, how to get dressed when you go to bed, because the temperature never goes down below -7 degrees, and in the morning, you are awakened by the flavour of the hot juice of ligonberry (the fruit of the region) , after that you can enjoy a blessed sauna.
  • This year Ice Hotel celebrates 25 years, an event which is worth emphasizing properly: this time Ice Bar was built separate from the hotel, like a dome, and inside, the effect of a champagne bottle being opened and splashed on the walls was created. Cooool! And in all the Ice bars in the world you will find the décor and the glasses+what is made of ice in the river Torne.
