At the market in Chiang Saen
“Autumn has come again” as a poet would say. These days, while I was thinking of the crops offered by “the fairy of singsongs, of terror-struck flowers, and the lady of cucurbitaceae” on the land of sheep (I know, I`m in a poetic mood today), I traveled, at least with my mind, back in Thailand, where the market is always cheerful, very colorful and especially …..warm! The Chiang Saen market in the Golden Triangle is exotic and rich. Take a look! Am I right?
I was taught (by the locals) that the best time for visiting and shopping is early, in the morning, because all the shopkeepers come at about 6 o`clock to organize their activities and arrange the products. So, if you want something fresh or even a snack for breakfast, the morning market is a perfect choice.

Chiang Saen este raiul iubitorilor de fructe, care au ce vedea si gusta aici: nuci de cocos, fructul dragonului, ananas, roseapple pline de vitamina C.

Oh, what is that I see? Dyed eggs? No it isn`t Easter time. The colored eggs (which look this way because they were kept in a mixture of clay and ash, for several weeks) are often seen on the market, as well as many dishes cooked on the spot, especially joint roasted on the spit, arranged in a line on the grill, pork sausages filled with lemongrass, ginger and rice and for the meat lovers, fish and meat with sauces, grilled fish, and eggs, stuck in a spit, which look a bit weird, but they are very tasty .

The little donuts and the sweet rice in bamboo are some very tasty and highly appreciated desserts. According to the principle that “Asian people eat everything”, the soups in bags and the different liquid desserts weren`t missing from the market stalls. And the cherry on the cake (or the candy on the boiled wheat with nuts, according to the case) are obviously the crickets and the fried worms or the turtles, still alive, waiting for their “fans”. But I don`t count among them
