Venice is looked upon as a melting pot of baroque and classical renaissance  by all travelers, art experts, connoisseurs of lifestyle, in a period of time when art was in full swing, as a space of dramatic expression and creative exuberance, where all arts find their suitable place and the most spectacular way of expressing itself.
But there is something in La Serenissima that, though grandiose in its turn, it isn`t similar to the rest of the Venetian allegories, at least from the outside.
Its story is special. You are not a complete traveler in Venice if you don`t enter the Doges` Palace, one of the most important landmarks of Italy.
Its history dates back to olden days, in the dark times of the 9th century, when the doges build both the privileged status in Venice and the dwellings,  as a mark of their rank and power in the city, therefore they were far from being simplistic.
From the fortress-like buildings in the early days, that included rooms, different institutions, prisons, then continuing with the construction of new edifices later on, and the renovation accomplished by the Doge Francesco Foscari, and ending with some various changes that the building underwent, due to the foreign occupation in the 18th century, the palace is a masterpiece in gothic style, that underwent many changes and damages over the years, but also many improvements; it was always associated with one of the best known aristocracies in the world.
Palazzo Ducale exhibits most of the Italian artists: Tintoretto, Titian,  Tiepolo, Veronese, Guariento, Carpaccio, Bellini. Sala del Maggior Consiglio, the huge, perfectly painted ceilings, the Bridge of Sighs, from where the convicts could see outside, probably for the last time, before being brought in court, the Giants` Staircase are just a few among the joys for the mind, soul and the wish  to tell stories, that you have to see with your own eyes, before leaving Venice.

Colored curiosity: the famous Giacomo Casanova was put in jail, where he escaped from, although it was believed no escape was possible from in here.
