Its story was once known in history under the name of Halicarnassus, the place where Herodotus was born, the bay that witnessed the conqueror Alexander the Great and the land on which one of the 7 most amazing  wonders of the Ancient World had been built, the Mausoleum of Halicarnas.
Centuries passed with the same sun shining above and blue sea underneath, the waves of the Aegean Sea washed away the fine beaches of the place chanted by Homer and his epigones, the histories, the dynasties changed with the passing years, along with the  destiny of the beautiful peninsula. Halicarnassus became a picturesque, remote fishing village, with infinity beaches, crystal-clear sea, blazing sun and… holiday dreams. Enterprising people saw its potential again and in the second half of the past century, Bodrum(the new name of Herodotus`s native place) became one of the most spectacular summer destinations of the jet-set or of the salty breeze lovers, spending quiet hours and telling stories by the sea.
Today, the enigmatic charm of the sites and the opulence of the resorts, the crystal-clear sea and the sublime food, the unique bays and the tempting beach clubs are at every step. All you have to do is to go-taste-feel them yourself!

 Colored list Bodrum:

   1. Rent a car, or you won`t be able to get to the different parts of the peninsula

   2. Visit the Museum of Underwater Archeology, a perfect example of how to host  and  render valuable antiquities and important historical collections

   3. Choose a catamaran or a boat, not too big, for about 10-12 persons to take you to the different little bays, during daytime

   4. Go for a walk through Bodrum, round the bay. It`s pleasant! Besides, you are also going to see a fish market

   5. Take a look round the bazaar, and go shopping, buy handicrafts of all sorts

   6. Stop for a Turkish coffee or a tea on one of the terraces overlooking the little bay and the castle, in the Cumhuriyet street, you won`t regret it

   7. Fancy cocktail at sunset, at Juju Bar, at Mandarin Oriental or at Macakizi Beach Bar

   8. Have an atmospheric dinner in Gumusluk, still at sunset at Mimoza or at Melengec which is close to Mimoza(they are the very last restaurants in this bay, therefore you have to go to the end of it, but it`s very pleasant because it is in this way that you can see the whole bay  and on your way there, you can find all sorts of little shops and  market stalls with local products)

  9. Still in Gumusluk you can go and have a drink at Limon café, up, on the hill, in a garden, the setting is special

   10. Go for a walk in Turkbuku, in the bay, where you are going to come across many restaurants and cafés, you should stop at Fidele for dinner or a glass of wine, in the same bay, it`s worth having dinner at Iskele restaurant or drinking some cocktails at Sahil Bar (both of them at Divan Palmira, on the shore)

   11. In Tukbuku you have a first class beach club, Makakizi, with d.j., cocktails, good food and cushions for you to laze around, everything being included

   12. A similar  beach club to be checked is also the one at Casa dell Arte Hotel, Frida Beach club, in Torba, and if you can`t get there for the beach, you can at least, go,one evening, and drink a cocktail, at their bar on the beach which was built around a huge palm tree, it`s quite special!

 13. If you fancy dancing, Halikarnas Club is the spot!
