3 iconic buildings, each of the 3, small (or big ) architectural gems, 3 posh places, 3 hotels with colonial charm that keeps reminding us of the olden days, in times gone by, and are the very quintessence of Galle…Sri Lanka. Galle Fort, Fort Bazaar and The Fort Printers are like some brothers born in the 17th -18thcenturies, from Dutch and British “parents” that had been brought in our modern times to delight us, the simple travellers that we may be dazzled by the greatness of some cultural and historic masterpieces.

Superb interiors, with only a few rooms, dressed in fine pieces of silk and precious wood details, frangipan is cents, and mixes of cultures, not to mention the super creative, organic, vibrant and exotic local specialties …. ah!

Galle Fort Hotel is, undoubtedly, a landmark of the city; having lunch on the terrace of the interior yard is a must, you have an awesome pool here, on the verandah, or you can drink a cocktail at the bar in the strains of saxophone live music; the décor is obviously preserved in colonial style and perfectly evokes the olden days.

Fort Bazaar is a boutique hotel with a magnificent design and with its most acclaimed Church Street Social restaurant and bar. It was actually built on the ruins of a fortress, it underwent many changes and renovations over the passing years, hosting, in turn, tea and spices merchants, craftsmen, even the most demanding customers.

Fort Printers is the third imperturbable “veteran” of the place, that also bears the stamp of the colonial style but with minimalist accents this time, with a small pool and a terrace in the interior yard and extraordinary cocktails. Everything is cosy, stylish, a little bit British, with teas and breakfasts and dumplings, but transferred in the fascinating place of Sri Lanka.
