If you arrive in Bangkok and cross out Pak Khlong Talat (the flower market) from the “must see” list…you will regret it! Bitterly!
I find it difficult to describe the emotion that shrouded the spaces between the market stalls, the piles, the vendors who sold stunning flowers ,from marigolds, orchids, tuberoses, lutuses, bamboos, roses, tulips, in various ways: in bunches, in garlands, in sacks, you could also buy a kilo or an armful of flowers.

I let the photos speak about this incredible place and I`m sure they will successfully and completely plead for at least a half an hour walk and amazement in the flower market in Bangkok.

Pat Khlong Talat is one of the most important piece in a puzzle that is called “The Orchid Land”.
“The Queen”of all the flowers in the market is the orchid, a typically Thai plant-there are over 1300 species -white, purple, green, dark red or yellow. Ochids can be easily distinguished by their different inflorescences(I was taught here, during a botany lesson “sur vif”): some of them are very delicate, while others are strong and waxed or flat, spiral and sharp.
These are brought to the temples, as an offering or are simply used for decorating the houses, like we do.

It is said that in Pak Khlong Talat, every woman feels like a queen, with all the flower empire at her feet, as in a huge fairy bouquet; a journey to a magical land, a kind of Alice in Wonderland. But without the Rabbit and the Hatter.
