It is said to be the most beloved shade in ROYVBIV, (the colors of the rainbow) the most widely used in the arts of mankind, the most shared, and the ultimate in matters of choice as far as the digital, aesthetic constructions are concerned. There is something about blue, something delicate, a particular perception, hard to define, that make us always come back to the azure shade, to the clear horizon or to an endless water, having the colour of holidays all the time.
I don`t know exactly how many shades of blue are there in my wardrobe, but it`s true that among the colored images that I`ve been looking for, through the lenses of my camera, there many in blue versions, in the most different shows of light. And one of the most incredible “blues” which I happened to see, to memorize or share were found in the spectacular and scented Capri.
Everything started with a boat trip from the grand harbour to Faraglioni, with stops at White Cave, Green Cave, going round Faraglioni and past the Marina Piccola and Punta Carena with the Lighthouse of the island. The last stop was that of the “absolute blue”: Grotta Azzura, the hidden sanctuary of Tiberius, the cave with the magic, blue light…
The grotto is one of the several sea caves worldwide in which the sunlight passes through the hole at the entranceway  and creates a spectacular azure reflection, which dazzled the Romans, the fishermen or the adventurers of the place over the millennia, then the writer August Kopisch and his friend were deeply impressed ( actually they rediscovered it and revealed it to the modern world. It also amazed all the tourists who crowded into the cave (in the proper sense of the word) to see it.
The journey to the “perfect blue” is also a ..kind of colored adventure. The pay desk is on a boat, too, and when you get in you have to sit on the bottom of the boat, only the oarsman standing normally on his feet.
At the entrance of the cave, all visitors are invited to lean backwards, at the bottom of the boat (a kind of “marine limbo”), because the entrance of the cave is very low, so, the oarsman also leans backwards, entering and pulling a chain.
Then..here is the wonder: the water has such a lovely, sapphire-like colour, an absolutely charming blue, hard to find the right words to describe, but which makes you fall in love, again and again, with the most beloved color of the blue…Planet.
