The XIXth century, France, the French Riviera. A picturesque village, somewhere near Nice was beginning its history, lying flawlessly on a hill, in one of the most beautiful scenery that nature has ever created, over the Mediterranean sea. Since then, generations of travelers, artists, beauty &quiet-seeking souls have been enjoying the serenity, the splendid discretion of this corner of the world, by finding their natural rhythm of life, the inspiration or the simple, bare joy. If you haven’t gone to Eze yet, picture yourself climbing to the top of the hill that overlooks the village. From above, you can see clear outlines of the village, the cornice road and the shore and you get to understand why it is called Côte d’Azur...An image, more powerful than any other revelation.

Èze is special, romantic, charming and is worthy of its visitors, poetry, thousands of pictures that illustrate it and the energy of the place - a "museum" without inhabitants, but with so many humans who look for it and want to "seize" its soul and stories.

Colored tips:

• Go for a walk through the Botanical Garden (the Exotic one) in Èze, by all means, you need to see the "forest" of cacti from where you can admire the sea in all its splendor

• Go on foot along the narrow alleys and roads where the atmosphere seems to be stuck in a time warp; they will lead you to the workshops of the local craftsmen, to the boutiques with tapestries, fine bed-clothes, but also to those with ceramics, herbs and spices, typical of the area

• Have lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants in Èze, because the view is splendid and you have to gloat over it. I don’t wonder it was an inspiration to Picasso or Matisse. You can also try the terrace from the Château Eza, a splendid boutique hotel, to have a coffee or a cocktail, seasoned with gorgeous scenery or Le Troubadour for local goodies. And if you have a special event to celebrate on the French Riviera, I recommend visiting the Chèvre d’Or Restaurant, from the hotel with the same name, which has 2 Michelin stars. Fabuleux!
