Before arriving on the Mauritius islands I was dreaming (after having seen the pictures in the magazines which were advertizing the island) of the reassuring sound of the waves in the Indian Ocean, of the blue, crystal-clear waters, of the splendid beaches with white sand, of all the lagoons with coral reefs, renowned all over the world, of the green sugar cane plantations.

Once we got there, surprise! All my dreams came...true! There are only a few places in this big world which are surpassed by the pictures (that seem to be photoshopped most of the times) with advertizing scenery. Well, Mauritius is one of them!

And if you add a fairytale hotel to the incredible nature, the kind of hotel that preserves and celebrates the local patrimony and the traditions in Mauritius, in a wonderful way, you know for sure that it's a perfect journey.

•  St.Regis Mauritius Resort has neither more nor less than 7 restaurants, each and all more tempting, more fascinating and more wonderful. I didn't have the time to try them all, but if you want some signature dishes, go to Simply India that has its chef, Atul Kochhar with his Michelin stars, then, if you want a local fusion with cuisine francaise, I suggest you should go to Le Manoir Dining Room, classical and colonial, and for more inspiration choose...Inspiration. It's a 3 star Michelin restaurant and it's a genuine, unique, culinary experience. The Boathouse Bar and Grill,The 1904 Bar, Atsukoand Floating Market are other gourmet restaurants, with diverse and exceptional food: Japanese, Thai, Malayan, Vietnam, with lovely cocktails, live music, champagne and decors, according to everyone's style. All you have to do is to decide on what you really want. Colored tips: "try all of them"!
