Why: because Maricanto is a hotel with tradition, that belongs to the Vespoli family-its founder being one of the mayors of the town-who hosted countless celebs over the years, but also many tourists that had been attracted mainly by the flawless hospitability, the “d`altritempi” good nature and a staggering vista.

When: as for myself, I prefer early autumn, when the sunrays are mild, the light is honey-like and you can enjoy the atmosphere, thescenery, when the place is not so crowded.

Type: a 4 star hotel

Location: in the heart of Positano, its main street with restaurants and shops can be easily reached by taxi. Bonus: panoramic views with cobalt waters, from fabulous rocks.

Energy: typical of the Amalfi Coast, a family business, private but prosperous, the air is shrouded in lemon and bougainvillea scent, with a picturesque setting, magical colors and all the ingredients of a perfect holiday.

Don´t miss:

• the adorable garden where you can have breakfast in the morning, it is arranged and decorated  in a chic way. As a matter of fact, if you are lucky enough to take the 2 little tables with a super view + the fresh, slightly sweetish scent of citrus fruit, you`ll have a sublime day (yes, I know everything is in the superlative, but they are not mawkish, they stand for real love )
• the infinity pool (which is not so huge), butit is comfortable enough, just as comfy as the sun lounger area which is quite wide, from where the beach and the sloping village  offer an extraordinary view.
• it is one of the hotels that belong to an area with a parking lot
• all the rooms have sea-view balconies and they are quite different from one another
• it is very well located in the main street so, you don`t have to climb or go down many steps, just walk on a sloping street.
• you have access to a private beach

Pret - reasonable for a 4 star hotel

Not so hot:
• you should know that parking here is quite expensive, therefore, you have to look for some other alternatives in the area.
• on the whole, the design of the rooms and of the front office is not the strong point of the hotel, which is slightly…. mmm… obsolete.
