It sounds poetical, endless, memorable, romantic, doesn`t it? The carmelite convent was raised in the 17th century(the first of its kind in North and South America), at the king of Spain, Philip IV`s orders and was inaugurated as Monasterio del Señor San José de la Orden de nuestra Señora del Carmen, a building that preserves Spanish, colonial influences and an old, grandiose and charmful look; the building was abandoned for a ten-year period, then it was used as a store, a ballroom, but also as a kind of hostel, until it became, in 1962, what it is today: the most luxurious and famous hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico…
